Homeschool Classroom ⋆ Country Homeschool Mom

When we first decided we would be homeschooling this year, I didn’t think about where we’d actually do this in our home. I saw all of the cool homeschool classrooms on Pinterest and imagined how great that’d be. We could have a dry erase board for lessons, desks, educational pictures on the walls, book cases full of dictionaries and cabinets full of art supplies…

Back in reality, I had no idea where we’d fit this fantasy school room I had envisioned. We just built a house last year. It’s pretty big, but we utilize all of the space, so there are no extra rooms for a classroom. The bedrooms are all decent sizes, but again, space is being used with no leftover areas for that Pinterest-worthy classroom. We do have a huge second floor that isn’t being used for anything, but that wasn’t in the original house plans. It was a mistake on the builder’s part, which means it’s not finished at all and has no A/C, floor, walls, etc. A perfect example of unused “future space” on those house listings.

So we school everywhere. The couch, the island, the dining room table, a bench by the window, the back porch, in bed when it’s time to read and they use my office computer for math.
